How it works
Ameritech provides a NAS appliance that is installed on your network Your backups are directed to the NAS instead of tape. Folders are also created (public and secure private) to be used as network file storage and sharing.
The NAS is configured to replicate the data on the appliance to the cloud. The appliance is easily configurable as any folder can be replicated or not - depending on your companies preferences and policies.
Your data is stored in two places - your network and a secure data center.
Restoration can either be completed by restoring from the local NAS, or if necessary a new appliance can be sent overnight with your data already restored on the new NAS. This is done locally at the secure data center. (Imagine trying to restore a terabyte through the internet).
By the way, any files that have been replicated to the cloud, can be accessed securely anywhere through a browser.
